WHAT IS THE REFERRAL SERVICE?
Our group of twenty experienced clinicians - all fully licensed by the State of California - provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents and groups. We are all members of the San Francisco and State Chapters of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Since 1980 we have provided thousands of confidential referrals to member psychotherapists as well as referrals to outside agencies.
We specialize in assessing, treating and resolving difficulties in interpersonal relationships, including but not limited to: communication skills; intimacy and sexuality; dating, marriage, parenting and divorce; life transitions; loss and illness; conflict resolution; personal and emotional growth.
Our member clinicians represent a broad spectrum of therapeutic approaches and specializations which enables us to match you to a therapist experienced in addressing your particular concerns and difficulties.
Locations:
All referral service members have offices in San Francisco. Many also have offices in the East Bay, Marin and the Peninsula.
Appointments:
Appointments are available Monday through Friday 8 A.M. to 10 P.M. Saturday appointments may be available with selected clinicians. Sessions are usually scheduled for fifty minutes. Other arrangements can sometimes be made.
Fees:
Referrals and information services are provided at no charge. All of us provide therapy on a sliding scale; the range is $65 to $150 per session. The average fee is between $75-$100. Fees are based on financial circumstances and are negotiated at the time of scheduling an appointment with the therapist selected for you.
Insurance:
Because we are a sizable group of Marriage and Family Therapists, there are many insurance plans that can be accommodated by the referral service. We recommend you check with your insurance company first to see if your benefit plan provides coverage for outpatient psychotherapy and allows you to choose your own provider.
For An Appointment or More Information:
Call 415-441-5644. The telephone intake therapist will usually call you back within several hours on weekdays and within twelve hours overnight or on weekends. You will be able to discuss your particular needs on the phone, and mutually evaluate whether a referral to one of our therapists is the best way to address your concerns.
If appropriate, the intake therapist will select a therapist from our group who can most readily address your particular concerns. This therapist will call you to schedule an appointment within 24 hours.
If our referral service does not have a therapist available to address your special requirements -- such as languages, ethnicity, schedule, fees, insurance, etc. -- the intake therapist will do their best to refer you to a therapist and/or agency outside our service.
Choosing the Right Therapist:
We recognize that choosing a therapist is an important, and personal, decision. We are committed to helping you find a competent clinician that you can trust. If for any reason you do not feel comfortable with your therapist , you may return to the intake therapist and request further assistance.
